Technical Solutions supply a range of monitoring devices that are designed to detect a patient’s movements while they are in a bed or chair.

This equipment can be used as an aid to fall prevention by alerting carers if the person is mobile. The carer can then intervene, and assist the patient prior to the person moving too far and attempting activities that may have a risk of falling.

Note that these alerting devices are only to be used as an aid for patient care and SHOULD NOT be considered as a substitute for adequate quality staffing.

Note also that it is important that the alarm provide an alert as soon as the person attempts to get up - preferably even before they are out of bed.

These monitor systems can communicate with staff by connecting into an existing nurse call system. They 'pretend' to be a call button or pendant that would otherwise be operated by the patient. The type of call system, and how it operates determines the information the monitor systems can convey to staff.
Monitor systems can also be set up with a 'stand alone' buzzer or pager system. This system may be appropriate for situations where there is no existing call system or where it is desired to have patient monitoring separate from the call system.
