Make your switch more useful!

Technical Solutions has designed a family of special modules suitable for use with most switches and a wide range of devices.

The modules alter the signals from momentary switches to provide better control equipment. The modules plug between the special switch and the equipment.

Flexi Adaptor

This is our most popular general purpose adaptor. The Flexi Adaptor can be used with most low voltage switch adapted devices including battery powered toys and other sensory devices.
Latching: The latching (on/off) function turns the controlled device on with the first switch press, and off with the second.

Timer: The timer will ‘catch’ a very brief switch closure and give an extended ‘on time’. This feature has been found to greatly assist students learning the cause-effect relationship between pressing a switch and the controlled device operating. The ‘on time’ can be adjusted from less that a second up to approximately 1 minute.

Mains powered appliances can often be adapted for use with the Flexi switch but it may be more appropriate to use the Technical Solutions ‘Power Box 5’ or other Environment Control devices

Inverter Module

Removing pressure from a switch connected to this module will activate the toy or device. This is particularly useful for people who have trouble controlling movement when anticipating an action. E.g. pressing a switch at the right time during a scanning sequence. Maintaining constant pressure, and then releasing at the right moment can be a more accurate technique.

Intention Module

This module tests for sustained and purposeful pressure on a switch before it passes on the signal. The test period can be adjusted from 1 to approximately 15 seconds. It is useful for people with uncontrolled movements. A small lamp lights during the timing period indicating the switch closure is detected and is being tested against the intention period.

FLEXI WITH STEADY HAND

Flexi Module Steady Hand - fixed 1 sec delay after switch release. All other Flexi Latching & Timer functions as normal.

Steady Hand

The Steady Hand blocks uncontrolled movements during switch release. It would be useful in situations where the initial switch press must not be delayed (scanning systems), but the user has difficulty pulling his/her hand away without generating additional unwanted switch closures. A small lamp lights during the lockout period to give useful feedback to the switch user.

Here the Steady Hand Module is plugged in circuit between the switch and the PROG infrared transmitter.
