Operating mains powered lights and appliances by
remote control with -
infrared ECU equipment
It is now a simple process to add mains powered lights and appliances to
the list of equipment you can operate from a trainable infrared Environmental
Control Unit (ECU).
Trainable ECU systems "learn" to mimic the signals
produced by television and video remote controls, and more recently other
equipment such as air conditioners. Technical Solutions has developed systems
to convert almost any electrical device to infra red remote control - and
therefore operation via an ECU. (Electric doors, beds and telephones are popular
requests.)
WHAT DO YOU NEED?
Three components are normally required as a minimum X10 system:
#1/ A remote control transmitter
for you.
#2/ A Transceiver to receive signals from your remote, then send signals via your house electrical wiring to your X10 modules.
#3/ One Module for each light or appliance that you want to control.

WHAT IS X10?
X-10 modules are like remote control power points. X-10 signals travel through
household wiring, making installation very simple. A range of different X-10
modules are available to suit most domestic
appliances and lights.
Team up the X-10 modules with an X-10 Infra Red Transceiver and an infrared
Environment Control Unit (ECU) such as the PROG for easy access to 240 Volt
appliances by people with a disability..

switch mains powered appliances and lights to our library of solutions.
#1/
X10 Infrared transmitters -
( X10-4IN1 or X10-8IN1)
These remote controls contain the infrared codes needed to train the PROG
3.
#2/
Infrared to X10 transceivers -
( X10IRRX or X10RFRX)
This will receive signals from the PROG 3 or other remote. The signals then
travel through the house electrical wiring to each appliance.
#3/
X10 "Plug In" Modules
Appliance and Lamp Modules -
These plug into a normal power point to provide remote on/off control of lamps,
fans, heaters, etc.
One module will be required for each appliance.
X10 "Wired In" Modules
Appliance and Lamp Modules -
Wired in modules are the best way to control wired in lights as the main light
switch can still be used.
Specially designed to enable a person with a physical disability to operate
an electrical device.
For children with disabilities. Much more than play.
